“Love” by Linda T. Hubbard
Howland Cultural Center, January 2010

What is love?  How can you capture that in a photograph? My two daughters have both gotten engaged this past year to wonderful future partners.  They are very in love and the glow in their eyes is positively breathtaking and fills my heart with great joy.   But how to capture that love…. not just for my daughters, but also for everyone??

When we are little we love our Mom, our Dad, our caretakers…they feed, clothe and shelter us…. they teach us about life, about love….  So my first memory of love is about my Mom….

As we grow up, love adds another layer – that of sharing one’s life joys…the little simple pleasures of life…a tasty lunch, a nap in the warm sun, or dressing up and going for a walk.

And along the way, we become the caretakers, the protectors – sheltering those we love from harm’s way or solving problems for those we love.

I hope these animal photos help you think about what love means to you…
