Linda T. Hubbard - Bannerman's Island

Bannerman's Island Collection - Bannerman's Island is in the Hudson river south of the Newburgh-Beacon bridge and north of Cold Spring. It was built as an arsenal for World War I and II. In the late 60's a fire gutted the structures. The Bannerman's Trust is trying to raise money for restoration. The architecture is very detailed and fascinating. In its glory the castle was magnificent along with a residence and gardens. Now it continues to intrigue us and hopefully will be restored.

Bannerman's from Above - flying over Bannerman's Island in a helicopter is fascinating.....it is a small island nestled in the mountains that surround the Hudson River. I've flown over the island in the hot hazy summer and the cool clear autumn - here are some of those images....always like doing a dance - circling and coming in closer.....and circling again....always intriguing... many of these photos were taken at low tide - so you can see the old docks and pilings....the builder truly had a master plan..

Bannerman's from the River - from a boat, one can really start to see the detail on the castle...and at the end of the day, the castle has a golden glow.
