IBM Show - June 23 - September, 2011 - Executive Dining Room and Briefing Center, Bldg 705 Poughkeepsie

As part of its supporting the arts community, IBM has displayed work by Hudson Valley Artisans Guild (HVAG) members for over 10 years. In celebration of its 100th Anniversary, the current work is by past president of HVAG and an IBM retiree – Linda T. Hubbard.
Linda T. Hubbard started as a programmer at IBM Poughkeepsie during the early days of S/360 and enjoyed a career that took her to Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Valhalla, White Plains and Somers. She held many staff and management positions in various areas of programming, planning, marketing and finance. Retiring in 1997 after 31 years, she has been photographing and volunteering for the arts ever since.
“I am delighted to be back in the 705 Building again where I started in 1966. I came to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie and fell in love with the Hudson River Valley.” Her photographs that are hanging in the Executive Dining Room and the 705 Briefing Center hallways depict the river and its surroundings. Whether hiking or flying in a helicopter, Linda’s camera captures the shadows of the bridges on the river, the colors of the seasons, and the mountains touching the river.

August 14 Through September 30 - Celebrating Summer - Photographs by Linda T. Hubbard at Rhinebeck Savings Bank, Rt 9D, Beacon, NY
Celebrating Summer - Photographs by Linda T. Hubbard

Rhinebeck Savings Bank of Beacon and the Beacon Arts Community Association announce their new show “Celebrating Summer”. Linda Hubbard’s photographs demonstrate how light showcases the extraordinary and the ordinary parts of life and the world we live in. Many of the images are of Scenic Hudson’s Beacon Point Park and scenes along the Hudson River. The collages of photographs were created from looking through the lens and then also looking to see what is around you. The collections of boat images are from Linda’s travels throughout New England, Canada, Australia and England. All photographs are for sale through RiverWinds Gallery, 845-838-2880, 172 Main St, Beacon.
Through her camera, Linda sees a different world - one that celebrates life and how light makes the ordinary beautiful and how humans interact with nature's beauty. She lives in and loves the scenic Hudson Valley - river, mountains, and fields. Ordinary grass, flowers, and the river's edge as light infuses them can be breathtaking. “My family has long endured the pause for the camera - my record of life, birthdays, weddings, sunsets or the first ride on the school bus. Mom has been there with her camera…embarrassing them all and delaying dinner - but recording those special times in one's life. Life can be very frantic at times, pausing to capture it and the world around us….priceless."
